STEVE HAZEL
Hi, I’m Steve Hazel, owner and president of The Panacea Automotive Repair, Inc. I am an ASE certified Master Automotive Technician and Level 1 certified drivability technician.

Repairing and maintaining cars has always and continues to be a passion of mine. From the first time at 10 years old that I disassembled my dad’s lawn mower, I knew that this was what I wanted to pursue as a career. When playing with hot wheels cars as a child I would always own the repair shop.

I graduated high school in 1981 and enrolled in Bellingham Vocational Technical Institute (now called Bellingham Technical College). After school I went to work maintaining a fleet of trucks for a local company. After receiving some ASE certifications I was employed by Dr. John’s Auto Clinic where the doctor himself grew me from a green tech to a very proficient drivability and repair technician. I worked for that company for 10 years. In 1994 I went to work at what is now Bellingham Automotive. Both of these companies gave me insights into how I would want to run my own facility some day.

In March of 1999 I took the plunge to open The Panacea with 5 kids and a very supportive wife. Many thanks to my loyal customers over the years that have trusted me with their car care needs.

In December of ’02 3 other local shops and myself teamed up to start “In the Shop” a local car talk radio show on KGMI 790. That has been a blast giving advice and answers to people over the airwaves.

In my spare time (5 kids and a business, what spare time?), I like to tinker with my 1968 Plymouth Barracuda Formula S, Target shoot, Play softball, go camping, read, and many church activities.

The Panacea Auto Repair, Inc. was established in March of 1999. After repairing and maintaining vehicles for two great local shop for over fifteen years a dream to realize my own shop met opportunity.

The shop was opened with the intent to provide honest, high quality repair and maintenance while providing the consumer a good value. We have built our reputation as one of the few “go to” places to have tough diagnostic and troubleshooting performed. We pride ourselves on the concept of “Test, not guess”. Our goal is to not sell you anything your vehicle doesn’t need. We strive to repair it right the first time, on time.

We employ ASE certified technicians qualified to repair anything from antilock brake systems to zirconia oxygen sensors and anything in between.

We use the latest tools and information systems to keep up to date on the rapidly changing technology employed by the automotive manufacturers. We also attend numerous hours of technical training every year to keep abreast of the changes in technology and technique.

We use only the highest quality parts that meet or exceed original equipment specifications to ensure a lasting repair. Most services are warranted for 12 months or 12,000 miles nation wide through our NAPA Auto Care Peace of Mind warranty.

We pride ourselves on personalized service to our customers and make every effort to make your service experience as painless as possible.

Conveniently located at the corner of Britton Rd. and the Mount Baker Hiway where you can avoid all the traffic lights. We offer local shuttle by appointment. Our hours of operation are 8:00-5:30 Monday through Friday.
